Aims

On behalf of the local churches: -

  • To visit people who work in shops/offices.
  • Act as a listening ear, supporting and encouraging on a pastoral basis.
  • Develop friendships based on mutual respect.
  • Act as in a coordinating role to refer people to other agencies where appropriate.
  • Develop and exercise Christian ministry alongside people working in the area and becoming involved in issues that concern these people.
  • Keep local churches informed of issues and roles.

 

A. Purpose

To engage with the working world serving and befriending people.

To help churches to understand some of the issues associated in the working world.


B. Accountability

To the Management Group.

Operational guidance from the Chaplain Coordinator.

To the local church communities whose support is essential.


C. Role Description

To establish a relationship of trust with contacts.

To gain an understanding of the challenges faced.

To act as a listener and a helper.

To be open to conversations on matters of faith as staff wish and with sensitivity.

To signpost staff to other services as needed.

To visit on a regular basis, remembering that the chaplain is a guest.

Reflect back some of the issues to the church communities.

To follow guidance from the Management group and providing occasional reports.
